Lennon James Sabanovic is our 12-day-old newborn who has been diagnosed with strep B meningitis, which has likely resulted in severe brain damage. Lennon was born perfectly healthy with mom and baby both thriving until on day 9 Lennon spiked a fever. Sass and Damir immediately rushed her to the hospital to begin a work up, which they have been told has saved her life.
This diagnosis is rare, given Sass routinely tested negative for strep B during pregnancy. The question keeps being asked “What caused this?” Every doctor has said “we have no idea. This is just extremely unlucky” or “a bad roll of the dice”.
There are many unanswerable questions right now, but Lennon will remain in the ICU for the foreseeable future receiving life saving care. Due to the nature of this illness, many questions about quality of life remain unanswered. This GoFundMe is to raise money to support Sass, Damir, and Baby Lennon throughout this next phase of their life. We appreciate every dollar donated. We continue to hope for a miracle for our sweet Baby Lennon. We will also be setting up meals for Sass and Damir. Please reach out to a family member of Sass or Damir if you’d like to be involved. We appreciate all of your love and support. Continue sending good energy; the Sabanovic family really needs it.
This gofundme is being run by McKell, Sass’ sister.
